
Emily Chiang is a Toronto-based pianist and educator with an active career as a recitalist and chamber musician. Born in Taiwan, she made her public debut at the age of six and has since performed widely in Canada and internationally. She has appeared as a guest soloist with the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Lima Symphony Orchestra, and the Concordia College Symphony Orchestra.
A dedicated chamber musician, Emily has performed at venues including the Winspear Centre and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, and was a fellow of the Toronto Summer Chamber Institute. Her current projects include piano duo and violin–piano duo recitals in Toronto.
Equally devoted to teaching, Emily is on the piano faculty at the University of Toronto. She has served as an adjudicator for the OYMI Music Festival and the Kiwanis Music Festival, and has presented guest lectures and masterclasses at institutions across North America.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Alvin Chow. She completed her Master of Music at Indiana University under the guidance of Menahem Pressler and Arnaldo Cohen, and earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Toronto, studying with Marietta Orlov.
