Please read the specific rules for each class.

Songs may be transposed to suit the entrants voice within reason.

Songs do not need to be chosen from the current RCM or CC Syllabi.

Singers may introduce their song(s) and composer(s) but it is not mandatory.

Singers may not sing musical theatre, pop or jazz selections from RCM List C or List D.

Singers in Beginner - Elementary levels may choose songs from the art song and folk song repertoire.

Singers in Intermediate levels may choose selections from art songs, folk songs and baroque or Mozart opera arias suitable for the developing voice.

All selections must be sung from memory.

All selections must be sung with acoustic piano accompaniment.
Classical Voice classes are split into age levels – see below. Song selections may be from the RCM or CC lists but DO NOT need to be chosen from those lists. Musical theatre, jazz or pop songs found in RCM Lists C (Level 1 – 6) or List D
(Levels 7 – 10) or CC popular lists should not be entered in classical voice classes.
Vocal Solo, Levels/Ages, Non-competitive
Entry deadline is January 31st, 2026 at 9:00 p.m.

Memorization is not required but encouraged.
Competitor's own choice unless otherwise indicated.
These classes are for vocalists with SOME vocal coaching.
MUSIC THEATRE SELECTIONS are NOT permitted in this section. Musical theatre, jazz or pop songs found in RCM Lists C (Level 1 – 6) or List D (Levels 7 – 10) or CC popular lists should not be entered in classical voice classes.
Scores are required for the adjudicator.
Performance times MUST be included on the entry form.
To be considered for Provincial Finals, competitors must enter a minimum of two same level classes and receive a mark over 85, and be recommended by the adjudicators.

Opera, operetta, oratorio, musical theatre, jazz and pop are not permitted. Musical theatre, jazz or pop songs found in RCM Lists C (Level 1 – 6) or List D (Levels 7 – 10) or CC popular lists should not be entered in classical voice classes.

Folk Song, Age

Competitor's own choice with a total performance time limit of 5 minutes.
List A selections only as per current Syllabus. Scores are required for the adjudicator
Grades 1 - 6 Folk Song, songs composed before 1900.
Grades 7 - 10 music composed or arranged before 1830-1900.
Performance times MUST be included on the entry form.
One folk song selection which must be memorized and accompanied with acoustic piano. Folk songs are songs that are 'arranged' by a composer.
No contemporary pop folk songs, musical theatre or pop selections are permitted.
Musical theatre, jazz or pop songs found in RCM Lists C (Level 1 – 6) or List D (Levels 7 – 10) or CC popular lists should not be entered in classical voice classes.
To be eligible for a scholarship, and recommendation by Adjudicator to OMFA competition, competitors must enter a minimum of TWO voice classes (at same level) and receive a minimum mark of 85.

One selection which must be an art song in English, memorized and accompanied with acoustic piano.

Repertoire choices will be taken into consideration.
For Junior level and higher, one song should be in a language other than English.

Beginner to Junior 10 minutes 2 selections.
Intermediate to Adult 15 minutes 3 selections and 1 language.

Repertoire should be selected from the current RCM syllabus commencing at the Grade 9 level to Pre- Diploma level

Open to performers in high school and university who have NOT completed a BMus degree or other music degrees or diplomas.
