2026 Syllabus - Percussion
- Memorization is optional but recommended.
- To be eligible for a scholarship, competitors must enter a minimum of TWO classes and receive a minimum mark of 85.
- Da capo and dal segno signs must be played. Repeats should NOT be played unless otherwise indicated in either the 2005 RCM or CC Syllabus.
- Performance times MUST be included on the entry form.
- All classes in this section are eligible to proceed to the Provincial level of competition which will be held in Kitchener-Waterloo, June 8-13 , 2026, upon adjudicator recommendation. Participants should be aware of Provincials rules (omfa.ca/syllabus) for the Provincial Finals and that the Provincial's registration deadline will be April 17th 2026.
Percussion Solos
Refer to Rules , read all syllabus rules with care.
Entry deadline is January 31st, 2026 at 9:00 p.m.
Competitor's own choice with a performance time limit of 10 minutes.
Junior (ages 13 and under), Intermediate (ages 14 - 16), Senior (ages 17 - 18).
Memorization is optional but recommended. Bonus points will be award for memorization.
Please supply the adjudicator with all scores.

Provincial competition is available for performers who enter 2 selections in their age category and receive marks and recommendations by the adjudicator.
Piece Selections
a) One of the selections must have been performed at the Local Festival and received a minimum mark of 85 and the recommendation of the local Adjudicator. The other selections are the competitor's choice but must follow the rules of this category.
b) Selections must be musically contrasting. The Adjudicator will take song choice into consideration.
General Rules
a) Memorization is not required but highly recommended.
b) All competitors must be an amateur which shall be defined as any person whose principle means of livelihood is not obtained from the performance or teaching of music in the particular category in which they are competing, even though, from time to time, they may receive remuneration on an occasional basis (not full-time)

Percussion Duets/Trios

Entry deadline is January 31st, 2026 at 9:00 p.m.
Payment should be made by e-transfer an invoice that follows is available for the conductor to submitted to your Board for re-imbursement.
Competitor's own choice of one selection.
Contestants must select music which requires the performer to play technical and melodic material.
